Element has an opportunity for a new Senior Payroll Specialist to join our growing team based in Edinburgh. This is a brand new role and excellent opportunity to join our payroll team at an exciting time. This role will act as technical subject matter expert on Payroll and Benefits administration, alongside the UK&I Payroll Manager, deputising when required.


Our new Senior Payroll Specialist will support Global Payroll strategic and technical project implementation and embedding, lead by the UK&I Payroll Manager and in partnership with our One HR Transformation Project team.


Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that all payrolls are processed monthly accurately, on time and in accordance with current statutory legislation, in collaboration with our UK&I Payroll Manager
  • Support month end procedures including balancing of GL’s, all Payroll control reconciliations and statutory and third party returns and payment requests are complete
  • Act as a technical SME, alongside the UK&I Payroll Manager, for all UK Payroll, Tax, Pension and Benefit related queries
  • Collaborate with all internal stakeholders within HR and Finance as well as external stakeholders to ensure all aspects of Payroll and company legislation are met
  • Assist all year end and cyclical payroll activities including internal and external audits
  • Maintain an open dialogue with UK&I Payroll Manager raising awareness of all potential and actual issues as they arise
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of current payroll legislation, with a proactive approach to plan for future changes
  • Monitoring of controls to ensure that all employee queries are managed effectively and within the agreed SLA’s
  • Work in partnership with One HR Transformation program team to build and implement operational collateral, including standard operating procedures and process workflow maps for all UK&I Payroll online and offline processes, as well as maintaining these to ensure accuracy in line with changing legislation
  • Support the UK&I Payroll Manager in establishing a Merger & Acquisition ‘Playbook’ for Payroll accountabilities, ensuring timely, efficient and accurate onboarding of new acquisitions onto Element Payroll
  • Support the UK&I Payroll Manager in partnership with One HR Transformation program team on the diagnostic and implementation of global payroll across the EMEAA region and determine the global payroll strategy for non Ceridian countries
  • Work in partnership with One HR Transformation program team and with direction from UK&I Payroll Manager on the scope, testing and implementation of an API Connector data feed between core HR System (Dynamics 365HR) and Ceridian DayForce Payroll System, as well as ongoing data quality and maintenance of Ceridian DayForce Payroll System


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Extensive and proven work experience processing payroll and benefits administration
  • Comfortable in a leadership role and able to deputise for UK&I Payroll Manager
  • Experience, skills and knowledge using Ceridian DayForce Payroll an advantage
  • Experience working with Global Payroll processes an advantage
  • Demonstrated problem solving with excellent analytical skills
  • Exemplary attention to detail, following process steps, reviewing materials for accuracy, and performing follow up to ensure high quality results
  • Ability to multi task and prioritise/handle competing priorities in a fast paced, dynamically changing environment
  • Proven effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a changing work environment
  • Ability to develop and implement operational collateral, including standard operating procedures and process workflow maps
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with the Team and stakeholders alike
  • Considered approach to risk management
  • Willingness to learn from others and increase your own knowledge base
