With plans to see SP Energy Networks (SPEN), part of the ScottishPower Group, look to invest over £5bn in transmission projects across our transmission network in central and southern Scotland by 2030, the SPT Projects team will play a key role in supporting SPEN to work at pace to deliver the transmission network that is required to support ambitions Scottish and UK Government 2030 targets.
As a Senior Planner, you develop, update & review complex project plans within a portfolio for the £5bn Investment Plan of SP Transmission (SPT) Major Projects, and report on the month-to-month movement of defined project KPIs for the portfolio, using specialist Planning Software and established IT Software tools.
What you’ll be doing
As a Senior Planner, you will generate and develop new project plans in a coherent and consistent format, resolving all project-centric scope or specific issues by interfacing with members of the Project Teams.
Using your expert knowledge, you will review the quality and accuracy of project programmes from other areas of the Planning Department and provide detailed & constructive feedback to ensure continuous improvement of programme quality, accuracy and consistency.
You will produce accurate monthly reports to inform & assist the portfolio level management decision making process - informing of individual project and holistic portfolio, performance & direction.
Additionally, a Senior Planner will:
  • Determine and display interactions between projects, highlighting potential clashes.
  • Update project plans: obtaining the relevant inputs through collaboration with other Project Team Members.
  • Analyse internal departmental schedules & external contractor project plans as required; ensuring and advising the Project Team of their suitability and any actions required to meet the overall project plan control & schedule targets.
  • Attend internal and external meetings as required, providing planning advice, reports, KPIs and programme views to assist Project Team decision making.
  • Comply with the relevant Quality Management System and support any process improvement initiatives.
  • Deliver any development actions as defined in PDP.
What you’ll bring
  • Knowledge of scheduling using Primavera P6 and MSPE.
  • Experience working with Engineering Specifications and documentation.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.
  • Good spoken & written communication skills.
  • Experienced in report writing.
  • Experienced in the use of MS Office tools: Excel, Word, Access, etc.
  • Appreciation of quality assurance processes.
