The policy and communications team in Scotland leads on innovative solutions, including championing new prevention legislation that will be introduced to parliament this year. This is an extremely exciting time to join the team and be part of a transformational change.

About the role

As a Senior Policy Officer, you will lead on the development of Crisis Scotlands policy positions, covering a range of issues related to homelessness but with a strong focus on homelessness prevention policy. You will ensure the solutions we propose are evidence based, drawing on the experience from our services, our members and our vast body of research and evaluation.

The Policy and Communications Team in Scotland has a prominent role in influencing Government. We are at the forefront of shaping innovative solutions, including championing prevention legislation that we hope will be introduced to parliament this year. This is an extremely exciting time to join the team and be part of creating transformational legislative, policy and systematic change.

You will work in a small, supportive, and highly skilled policy influencing team, based within our Skylight service in Edinburgh, enabling policy to be shaped by our practice.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need extensive experience formulating policy solutions and communicating them clearly and concisely. You will need to be able to work under pressure at busy times and be able to manage your workload to meet internal and external deadlines. You will be an excellent communicator, have a sound understanding of the policy influencing process in Scotland, and have a strong passion for ending homelessness.

You may have experience in government, third sector, local authority. Other relevant experience related to policy synthesis, policy influencing, and government relations would be of much benefit.
