Job description

We need an AWEsome Senior Portfolio Analyst to join our replacement Warhead team at AWE. You will play an integral role in providing support to the PMO Service Leads to communicate and build commitment to a shared vision and sense of purpose.
Location: Hybrid and flexible working, with our offices based in Berkshire between Reading, Basingstoke and Newbury with onsite parking and public transport services.
Salary: Starting at 45,110 this is very much open to negotiation if you can demonstrate the skills and experience we are looking for.
This role is not ideal for applicants from a solely IT background.
What is essential for this role is being able to absorb complex programmatic data points and turn them into a coherent and easily understandable story which can be communicated to senior stakeholders. Vital skills include setting up reporting dashboards and leading on the design and traceability of data into information to lead into decision making.
An understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle is necessary in order to tell the Reporting Story.

The UK government has committed substantial investment into improving our infrastructure, so we are building a talented team to make the most of this opportunity. It is a new approach for AWE and we need someone who can support a new programme in its set up then evolution into a full, long-term project.
No two days are ever the same, you will manage and engage with a wide range of interesting colleagues and projects across the organisation.
A typical day for a Senior Portfolio Analyst could look like this:
Provision of complex analysis of governance, reporting outputs and programmatic data to track key activities, plans, budgets, issues, and risks across all the AWE portfolio.
Analysis of the portfolio to maintain an integrated view of the key risks and issues across the AWE Enterprise.Recommending effective actions to mitigate risks and exploit opportunities.
Analysis and evaluation of portfolio data to identify discrepancies, trends, exceptions and opportunities.
Tracking and highlighting interdependencies and conflicts between business as usual and the portfolio and recommending courses of remedial action.Leading reporting from programmes and projects and provides analysis, insight and recommendation of decisions for improved performance of the portfolio.Monitoring portfolio risks (threats and opportunities) and escalate as appropriate.Using programmatic data develop predictive analytics to optimise project performance.

Project reporting, cost, planning, governance, risk, or analytical skillsManaging successful projects or programmesWorking in a project or programme management officeAnalysis and extrapolation of complex data setsDigital reporting and analytical solutionsProject Management practitioner qualification; e.g. Level 4 Data AnalystMembership of a relevant professional body.Managing Successful ProgrammesManagement of Risk Managing PortfoliosAPM Project Planning, Monitoring & Control

This job role is suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station) and working from home as a personal choice. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
The successful candidate is required to carry out all their duties from a UK location and cannot do so from an overseas location at any time.
