Job description

Deregallera Ltd is a high-tech company based in Caerphilly, Wales developing advanced motor technologies and energy storage materials and systems. Our multidisciplinary research group aims to support the rapid development of new materials and structures that may be used in these applications. This is an outstanding opportunity for a Power Electronics expert looking for a challenging role within a fast-growing, innovative R&D company. 



Qualifications


Essential:

•   A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline


Desirable:

•   PhD

•   Chartered Engineer



Experience


Essential:

•   Currently (or within the last year) working in a closely related role

•   Extensive Power Electronics design experience

•   Significant relevant hands-on industry experience

•   Schematic capture and PCB layout

•   C/C++ Programming skills


Desirable:

•   Broad design experience - including digital design, analogue, thermal, EMI

•   Automotive experience

•   Experience of working on high-reliability/safety-critical systems and engineering standards such as ISO26262



Skills/Attributes


•   Knowledgeable, organised and hands-on

•  Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively between management, other engineering teams, suppliers and customers

•   Flexible with a positive can-do attitude

•   Effective time-management and workload prioritisation skills



Daily Tasks and Responsibilities


The role covers all aspects of product development from concept through to product release. Typically involving detailing specifications, circuit design, simulation, analysis, modelling, breadboard design, PCB design, product testing, product approvals and technical documentation.


•   Support in the design, development and testing of robust and reliable hardware/software solutions.

•   Development, analysis, and validation of design solutions using prototyping, simulation and test techniques.

•   Producing schematics, PCB designs, BOMs and control documentation to company requirements.

•   Interfacing with and managing key suppliers.

•   Developing conceptual requirements into specifications and project plans.

•   Taking responsibility for managing projects and ensuring their timely completion.

•   Testing products to satisfy performance and approval requirements.

•   Producing documentation and test reports to required standards.

•   Involvement with fault investigation and FMEA.


The above list is not exhaustive and other relevant duties will be assigned as necessary based on the changing demands of the business.


If not already residing in the local area, relocation to within a 45-minute commute would be a requirement.  Financial assistance is available.
