Salary: Hay Band B (£36,648 - £41,418 FTE)

Inspire’s Youth Arts team delivers music, dance, and digital arts projects from its Mansfield base and across Nottinghamshire, including a mixture of workshops, events, installations and showcases, reaching over 1500 young people aged 11 – 25 each year. Inspire Youth Arts (IYA) creates opportunities which develop young people’s creativity, confidence, employability and wellbeing and places access and inclusion at the heart of all its work.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Producer with knowledge of a range of artforms. The post holder will be required to work dynamically with the Inspire Youth Arts Manager to lead the IYA creative team and to work with a range of partners, artists, stakeholders, and funders to develop inspiring and inclusive arts and cultural opportunities for young people.

You will be an experienced events professional, ideally with experience in the cultural or creative sectors, who has a strong understanding of events programming and management, a flexible, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to teamwork, experience of successful bid writing and excellent project management and communication skills. Excellent time management and organisational skills are essential. You will have excellent understanding and knowledge of youth engagement, health and safety and safeguarding young people.

Working 37 hours per week including some weekend and evening working, the postholder will be based at The Old Library in Mansfield, with home working supported. The ability to travel across the county by your own means is essential.

Job Title: Senior Producer

Hay Band B


Job Purpose

To manage and develop activity that delivers strong partnerships and delivers both strategic and local arts policies, and inclusive projects and programmes


Key Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for planning and co-ordinating the deployment of people and resources to meet the needs of customers.
  • To build new and sustainable programmes, engagement and especially participation by underrepresented and targeted groups.
  • To manage staff, freelance artists and volunteers as appropriate.
  • To identify, apply and secure external funding to enhance and deliver new projects and increase access to arts for young people
  • To lead on the initiation, development and delivery of external partnerships with community groups and other organisations at local, county, regional and national level in line with the business plan and identified needs.
  • To lead on the initiation, development and delivery of externally funded programmes.
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues in Inspire and external partners to develop and deliver services to increase range of sustainable arts and cultural opportunities in the county especially with respect of engagement by young people and underrepresented and targeted groups.
  • To create and contribute to relevant plans, ensuring the setting and delivery of appropriate targets and standards
  • To provide project management of arts programmes across all art forms including project planning, tendering, delivery, financial management, monitoring, evaluation, audits, managing risk, health and safety and safeguarding.
  • To have an understanding of marketing and communication methods which will reach audiences and participants.
  • The post holder will work in accordance with all Inspire policies and procedures, Inspire Brand guidelines,
    Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) contractual requirements, and professional best practice

Education and Knowledge Required for the role

  • Degree/postgraduate arts qualification and / or 3 years relevant industry experience.
  • Knowledge of participatory arts sector locally, regionally and nationally.
  • Good working knowledge of the principles and practice of people, performance, risk and project management.
  • Good working knowledge of a range of IT applications incl. Microsoft applications.
  • Knowledge of working to statutory and legislative standards.

Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years experience of arts development and project management where performing arts development has been significant.
  • Experience of initiating, developing and delivering services, leading staff, and managing resources and performance.
  • Experience of monitoring budgets and providing financial data and reports.
  • Experience of customer focused service delivery.
  • Experience of working with partners across the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Role Dimensions

  • To provide a comprehensive range of opportunities to engage with the arts ensuring that the needs of customers and the service are being met on a day to day basis.
  • Budget liability up to £20,000 including undertaking complex reporting processes, reconciling across several budgets and reporting regularly to senior management.
  • Management of staff, freelance artists and volunteers as appropriate, including training and development needs.
