Job Description

Would you like to work for a leading Precision engineering supplier to the Aerospace / Automotive industry and for a company that values its employees and provides an environment of innovation, collaboration, and excellence, then look no further.

Working within the existing Product Lifecycle Management approaches, take concept designs and evolve production ready configurations and all supporting documentation, tooling and instructions to allow realisation of products in a timely, cost effective and profitable manner. To support the management of workflows, projects and priorities within the function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and prioritisation of the team and their activities.
  • Contribute to the Product Design process and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement, project manage new designs, and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Develop, implement and maintain guiding design rules for products and their realisation.
  • Generation of product data packs providing the definition of the finished product and steps required through the product lifecycle.
  • Validate and verify designs, managing risks.
  • Support functions such as knowledge base development, calculations, documentation, SAP entries, and SOP maintenance.
  • Provide ongoing expert support to the wider business, disseminate knowledge, technical reports and assist in problem solving
  • Develop and maintain closer cooperation with all aspects of the business locally and at other sites 

Education:

  • Master’s Degree, equivalent or higher, in a STEM subject such as Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering etc with a strong academic core

Knowledge/Skills and Experience:

Knowledge

  • Mechanical Design and Rotating Equipment
  • Practical engineering experience
  • Material properties and selection
  • Production Technologies (Turn, Mill, Grind etc.)
  • Precision Metrology (methods and application)
  • Risk Management, Project Management,
  • Business processes and methods

Experience

  • Working in an Engineering role associated with applicable technologies and precision levels
  • Practical engineering experience
  • Risk Management Techniques

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, written, verbal & presentation
  • Ability to adapt quickly applying fundamental knowledge to new projects
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Analytical tools, statistical methods and problem-solving techniques (eg 6 Sigma, 8D)
  • 3D CAD (Preferably SolidWorks)
  • Data analysis
