This role of Senior Product Development Engineer is a critical role within Accessories and Sample Preparation NPD team to operate as internal expert and subject matter expert and lead projects end-to-end in discovering, designing, developing & delivering innovation solution and products.
Key Responsibilities:
· SAFETY FIRST - ensure that you and your team members are not injured at work and report any hazard promptly following the company guidelines.
· Lead the multi-disciplinary design, development & testing of Spectroscopy Accessories and Sample preparation NPD projects and support NPI process to get products to market efficiently.
· Work on Innovation projects as technical and subject matter expert and help successful delivery of technology solutions, and IP’s.
· Develop expertise in optical coatings, process engineering and advanced manufacturing methods.
· Provide optical coating and process expertise across the Innovation team to both NPD (New Product Development) and EPD (Existing Products Development/Current products) teams.
· Lead projects in structured fashion through 6D stage gate development process.
· Provide leadership and coaching to junior team members.
· Ensure products are designed to meet all requirements, e.g. performance, reliability, time to market, compliance and cost.
· Lead product qualification and verification along with the compliance and testing lead and design and execute DOE’s as and when required.
· Produce and maintain all product documentation to relevant internal and external standards, to enable efficient transfer to manufacture & EPD team.
· Provide guidance and internal consultancy to rest of the innovation team on field Opto-mechanical-electronics system design and manufacturing process.
· Provide Project management support as and when required.
· Commercial awareness and experience in managing design & manufacturing trade-offs.
Key Skills:
· Minimum Master’s Degree in Optical Engineering, Electronics, Physics, mechatronics or a related technical discipline.
· Good understanding a few and command on at least one of the following areas MOEMS, MEMS & Microfluidics.
· Hands on experience in product & process development.
· Expert on or good understanding of various manufacturing methods & techniques for high precision optical parts and coatings and methods.
· Proficiency in one or more of the following simulation software packages; Zemax, CodeV Solidworks, Sigfit, & etc.
· Expert knowledge & hands on work experience in SolidWorks FEM/FEA is added advantage.
· Hands on experience of Electronics Design and Firmware development is added advantage.
· Project Management experience is advantageous.
· Excellent Verbal & technical writing skills
