An opportunity has arisen in the West Midlands Cancer Alliance to join this dynamic, high profile and busy team. As a Senior Programme ManagerEarly Diagnosis, you will work as part of a dynamic team that provides support and expertise to help the Integrated Care Systems (ICS's), West Midlands Cancer Alliance and NHS England direct commissioners deliver their plans. You will be responsible for leading and manging projects that contribute to the delivery of the National Cancer Programme priorities within the NHS Long-Term Plan. The role will focus on projects targeting the Long-Term Plan ambition of diagnosing cancer at an earlier stage. We are looking for individuals with a strong operational background in the NHS and ideally with and demonstrable understanding of cancer pathways.
As Senior Programme ManagerEarly Diagnosis, you will be responsible for leading and managing projects that contribute to the earlier diagnosis of cancer and improved outcomes for patients. Working closely with WMCA and system colleagues you will enable the delivery of operational and transformational programmes within an agreed portfolio of work.
Developing an Early Diagnosis strategy/plan, liaising with national, regional and system colleagues
Monitoring staging performance across all systems in the West Midlands; identifying opportunities for targeted improvement.
Ensure effective relationships with a range of stakeholders with particular emphasis on Providers.
Manage projects and programmes within Cancer Alliance Programme, providing leadership and direction to ensure delivery.
Plan and execute engagement with clinicians to understand the case for change, support the development and delivery of plans to provided better outcomes for the West Midlands population.
Monitor and establish the overall progress of the transformation programmes to ensure delivery with agreed timescales.

The West Midlands Cancer Alliance (WMCA) is one of twenty-one Cancer Alliances across England, one of the largest Alliances in the country. WMCA covers a large geographical area of 6 counties: Birmingham and Solihull, Coventry and Warwickshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, The Black Country and Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent. The West Midlands Cancer Alliance team is hosted at Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust working across the wider West Midlands footprint. This role requires regular travel across the Midlands and the team meet face to face in Central Birmingham once a fortnight.
Cancer Alliances were set-up to deliver the collective ambitions identified by the National Cancer Taskforce, with the aim of increasing survival rates across the area and the experience of those living with and beyond cancer, ensuring that we address inequalities and improve patient experience wherever possible. We do this by bringing together all the organisations which commission, provide, and contribute to cancer services across our area to enable quality improvement and better outcomes for patients through effective and coordinated partnership working.

Develop and implement qualitative and quantitative measures to determine performance against the organisational strategy. Report progress against the strategy through personal representation at senior management forums and by written reports. Tailoring delivery to meet the needs of the audience.
Ensure that best practice is developed and delivered at organisational and departmental levels. Challenge ways of working and persuade, motivate, and influence other stakeholders to realign their practice where necessary.
Ensure that appropriate strategies are employed in line with business objectives and that these are fully cascaded.
Personally lead, support, and contribute to formal negotiations with senior level internal and external stakeholders, providing a high level of negotiating expertise to secure the most advantageous arrangements.
Advise on innovative opportunities and support all departments in their strategies and programmes to maximise service benefits.
Oversee the tracking of progress against plans and transition milestones, ensuring appropriate processes are in place to flag issues, risks, and concerns with the relevant stakeholders.
Ensure the securing of value for money, assuring relevant factors such as quality and governance.
To monitor, interpret and quality assure progress against deliverables. Quality assurance and progress of deliverables to the NHS that often require adjustments specifically in relation to the complex corporate business agenda, strategic objectives and the business planning
