About the Role

Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around the UK and Ireland.

Salary: £Competitive depending on experience + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

What is the Role?

As a Senior Project Development Engineer, you'll work within an exciting, challenging, and growing area of the SSE Renewables business, leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams in the design, development and delivery of Battery Energy Storage Systems and Solar generation opportunities. This will include development of conceptual and front-end engineering designs, optioneering of solutions with supply partners, and providing technical assurance during project delivery throughout detailed design, construction & commissioning.

With over 500MW in delivery and a growing pipeline in the GWs, you will be working on some of the largest BESS and Solar projects in the UK & Ireland. You will influence senior stakeholders inside and outside of our business to successfully move your projects through our Assurance Process, demonstrating excellent technical leadership. You will have the opportunity to grow as a professional while you help grow the business, and you will be supported in your personal development throughout.

Your understanding of the energy market and that of the transmission and distribution networks combined with your engineering expertise will play a crucial role in driving and increasing our success, and in doing so, drive business growth.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Experience in the design, development and delivery of power generation projects; and/or LV and HV power networks.

- Demonstrable ability of working in and co-ordinating multi-disciplinary teams to provide technical assurance in the development and delivery of large projects.

- Experience in managing and interfacing with consultants and Engineering, Procurement & Construction contractors.

- A broad understanding of the energy industry including relevant engineering standards, energy markets and regulations.

- Enthusiasm and commitment to deliver engineering excellence on world class projects whilst always striving for continuous improvement.

- A flexible approach that lends itself to collaborating with colleagues and customers.

- Preferably Chartered Engineer status with respective institution or a willingness to obtain within role.
