About this Role:
Experienced Senior Project Manager required to work on an £80m change of use refurbishment and new build scheme in Gosport, Hampshire with this busy Tier 1 main contractor.
Project comprises change of use from an existing but redundant MOD base to a centre involving basic accommodation, health centre, kitchen and dining facilities, storage and office buildings, a new build energy centre, extensive re-working of services, etc. The change of use will be to some 40+ buildings - demolition and new build, cut and carve refurbishment, light touches refurbishment, re-roofing and re-cladding, etc.
This role would suit an experienced and technically minded SPM who is very construction focussed.
There is a Project Director in place who will run the client interface, design and programme development.
Reporting to the Project Director you will be responsible for delivery of all construction works across the buildings split into 4 main areas - you will lead your team holding ultimate responsibility for construction methodology and programming of works, site wide coordination of teams to ensure the smooth and timely progress of construction on site, safety and quality control, and ensuring delivery of area to multiple phases handovers.
About the Company/Client/Project:
The client is the busy regional office of a national main contractor, with a turnover in excess of £150m, with secured workload in the education, commercial, local authority, custodial and defence sectors in the Hampshire, West Sussex, and surrey areas.
Projects range in size from £25m to £80m, secured through a mixture of national and regional frameworks, negotiated schemes with repeat clients, competitive tenders, and work for the investment arm of the business. There is a good pipeline of future work, with 80% of turnover already secured for 2024-5.
Requirements including certificates and qualifications:
You will ideally be an experienced Senior / Project Manager with a proven track record within a major contracting organisation, able to deliver design & build schemes up to £40m+ in value. Key attributes will include excellent client, design team and site team management ability, technical, contractual and commercial knowledge, plus focus and drive.
Previous experience of working on large new build industrial buildings would be useful for this scheme.
