Job description

Bristol is a leading city in taking action on climate change and Bristol City Council plays a key role in co-ordinating that work.
We are continuing to push the innovation boundary with a new project developed with a consortium of local partners and supported by £5m of funding from Innovate UK. The project forms part of Bristol’s goal to rapidly reduce the city’s emissions to Net Zero and part of the council’s Net Zero Programme.
This new Mission Net Zero project will demonstrate an innovative approach to planning and investing in the decarbonisation of cities. It will combine simultaneous workstreams with three communities in Bristol, with regional partners, with local SMEs in the supply chain and with financial institutions.
You will work with a team of BCC colleagues and 10 partner organisations to deliver the project. This consortium successfully developed the project and bring a wealth of experience and in- depth knowledge of the key specialisms to the Project Team.
In addition, BCC will procure three key delivery contractors to expand the capacity and capability of the project team.
The projects outputs will include:
A Regional Climate Investment Plan, owned by key agencies with a pipeline of projects ready for investment Three Community Climate Investment Plans with associated finance and documented project pipeline A suite of new financial tools able to invest in those projects, A growing supply chain with future orders and skills to deliver Plans A dynamic digital platform supporting ongoing investment decisions This is a complex project where the workstreams will need to interact and enhance each other and partners will combine their respective expertise to create an outcome that is greater than the sum of its parts.
The Project Manager, supported by Workstream leaders, will ensure that partners and suppliers procured through the project deliver the proposal agreed with the funder and create a process which will deliver substantial investment into Bristol and the West of England in the years which follow the project close in October 2025.
