Manchester Metropolitan are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Project Manager to join their vibrant Strategic Projects team.
The successful applicant will lead on the delivery of project and programme management for key strategic initiatives, working with colleagues and senior leaders across the university.
The initiatives involve people, structural, cultural and business change. Strong relationship management and the ability to demonstrate the value of project management to a diverse audience will be critical.
We are looking for someone with experience of applying good practice across a complex environment. To be successful, you will engage through your excellent interpersonal skills to bring your stakeholders with you. Depending on the assigned initiative, you may also have the opportunity to matrix manage Project Managers and other team members. supporting their development through coaching and management of deliverables. The role provides the opportunity to work with leaders, deliver the benefits of change and ensure that staff involved in or impacted by change are engaged positively.
You will:
- Engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels to win credibility through effective relationships and delivery
- Define and develop the initiative, workstreams and deliverables required. Identifying workstream leads, forming delivery plans and addressing resource implications as required
- Have a good understanding of business change and how it enables benefit delivery
- Ensure that progress, risks and issues are effectively and appropriately communicated to key stakeholders, utilising appropriate governance to facilitate timely decisions
- Lead the initiative, ensuring that there is a core and consistent set of roles, responsibilities and approaches across the team
- Ensure good communications with all stakeholders, both within the project and outside, particularly with leaders
About you:
- Significant relevant experience of change and project or programme management within HE or a similar sector
- Possess PRINCE2, APM or an equivalent Project/Programme Management qualification
- Effective stakeholder engagement and negotiating skills, including the ability to influence across the organisation
- Have a proven track record of working collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels
- Experience in managing others, especially within a project/programme environment which is fast-paced and confidential
- Experience of implementing significant change in processes, structure, culture and ways of working
- Excellent written and oral communications skills illustrated through proficient use of Powerpoint, Word and similar apps
