Job description

Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitionerwith an academic course of study in line with the IAPT Low Intensity National Programme and qualified as a PWP, e.g. Post Grad Diploma in Psychological Therapies,who has experience of working in a supervisory role is required join a well-established Charity.

You will be working as part of the HMP Haverigg team. HMP Haverigg is a category C and D adult male prison.

SALARY: £35,392 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Based at HMP Haverigg, located just outside Millom, Cumbria

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 Hours per Week (part time hours may be considered)

KEY REQUIREMENT:Applicants must be 18+ due to prison based working

The post will be subject to a DBS Enhanced with Adults barred check and Home Office Prison Clearance.

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner who has successfully completed an academic course of study in line with the IAPT Low Intensity National Programme and qualified as a PWP, e.g. Post Grad Diploma in Psychological Therapies,with experience of working in a supervisory role.

Working as a Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner you will join a friendly and inspiring Mental Health team based in HMP Haverigg Prison.

As the Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner you will carry out your clinical work face to face within the prison environment.

DUTIES

Some of your duties as the Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner will include:

  • Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service
  • Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent
  • Assess and support people with Mental Health problems in the self-management of their recovery
  • Undertake person-centred interviews and making an accurate assessment of risk to self and others
  • Provide assessment and Low intensity interventions
  • Implement and support a range of evidence-based interventions utilising a self-management model of Mental Health care
  • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment
  • Work in partnership with other disciplines and to maintain links with statutory and non-statutory agencies
  • Provide clinical and management supervision, to Step 1 and 2 staff within the team

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Academic course of study in line with the IAPT Low Intensity National Programme and qualified as a PWP, e.g. Post Grad Diploma in Psychological Therapies
  • Completed or in the process of completing the IAPT supervision training
  • Experience of working in a supervisory role
  • Significant post-qualification experience in offering and delivering the full range of evidence-based IAPT low intensity interventions at Step 2
  • Knowledge of assessment procedures, screening, referral, record-keeping and evidence-based brief psychological interventions. Significant knowledge of IAPT compliant step 2 ways of working
  • Knowledge of outcome measures and their use for clinical and audit purposes
  • Have the ability to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients and practice in a non-discriminatory manner, respecting the beliefs and cultural practices of individuals and groups
  • Confident communicator, with excellent written and verbal skills
  • Experience of routine outcome monitoring and audits, utilising them to improve practice
  • Proficient ICT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and clinical record management systems (e.g. System One, IAPTUS)
