About the Team & Role:


You would be joining the Public Health and Communities Hub. We are a team who are committed to making a difference to the health and wellbeing of residents, and places and communities, to enable people to live healthy lives and reduce inequalities.


As a Senior Public Health Officer, you will work under the direction of Public Health Managers to lead and support a range of projects and programmes aimed at improving health outcomes. Working flexibly, you will work collaboratively with internal and external partners, to build on community strengths, and on evidence of what matters to local people and what works.


The initial focus for the post will be on planning, coordinating, and commissioning interventions and services and implementing programmes of work around tobacco control and treating tobacco dependency.

You will join a supportive team with a commitment to professional development to enable you to make your own contribution to improving and protecting the health and wellbeing of residents of Gloucestershire.


About You:


Our ideal candidate will have experience of the delivery or commissioning of tobacco dependency services or knowledge of tobacco control. However, experience of working in a commissioning or provider environment, working on the determinants of health, for example, housing, environmental health, health and social care and/or Public Health would also be an advantage.

They will have proven project management skills, self-initiative and the ability to work flexibly and build constructive relationships with people at all levels.

The Public Health and Communities Hub support the Council’s Agile working policy and expect team members to work an average of two days per week in the office, which is based in Gloucester, and to attend ‘in person’ meetings as and when required. New starters will be required to come into the office more often in their first 3 weeks for induction.
