This is a Senior Public Health Practitioner role within the Hywel Dda Public Health Team. The team supports the University Health Board and its partners across the counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. Location to be determined at interview.
The population profile of the area has an impact on the breadth and complexity of the work undertaken by the team as outlined in the strategic and operational priorities of the Director of Public Health.
The post holder will contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of a range of Public Health programmes that promote health and wellbeing across sectors in line with agreed local and national strategies: this includes the IMTPs of Hywel Dda University Health Board and Public Health Wales .
The role involves working with specific target groups in a range of settings, in partnership with local communities and partner organisations. The post holder will provide specialist advice and support on the development of Public Health/health promotion programmes and support community health development approaches and initiatives to address health inequalities.
The delivery model within the team takes a whole life course approach to improve the health of the population of the Hywel Dda area. Specifically, the post holder will take a lead role on projects or programmes within the annual work plan; current priorities include social and green solutions for health, obesity and immunisations and vaccinations.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;

48 general practices (six of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
