Want to work on the launch of a new category for Sky? As Sky evolves towards its ambition of being at the centre of a connected home, in confidence, we will be launching a new protection proposition in 2023 which will leverage smart home technology to give customers extra assurance that their homes are connected and protected.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in what is effectively a new vertical within Sky. We have a team of c.80 people on the ground already, many of whom are new to Sky, and we’re looking for a capable and self-starting Senior Software Engineer.
You will be working within a small team of Software engineers, QAs and SMEs tasked with supporting the business to deliver a broad spectrum of work, including large projects and small change.
What you’ll do
Work alongside software engineers to create and maintain Insurance software components
Participate in design discussions and code reviews
Write software that is robust, efficient and tested
Liaise with QA to ensure software is of a high standard
Collaborate with the Insurance SMEs to understand their requirements and propose technical solutions
Collaborate with the delivery team to plan projects and deliverables
What you’ll bring
Software development experience using Python. The language of choice for this role!
Appreciation of automated software testing.
Excellent understanding of software engineering principles and practices covering areas such as automation, testing, pipelines, containerisation, and cloud technologies
Experience working with CI/CD
Experience in planning and delivery by working with immediate team and managing external team relationships
Experience in leading/mentoring software developers
Experience with being responsible and accountable for software systems/components
Experience working in the Home Insurance industry (Desirable, but not necessary)
Good written, verbal and presentation skills, with a strong focus on collaboration
