Senior Python Django Developer

Senior Python Django Developer - JP Morgan - 6 months contract - Hybrid - PAYE

We are seeking a Senior Python Django Developer to join JP Morgan in Bournemouth on an initial 6 months contract. You will be part of a team developing a new app based in Python/Django/DjangoRestFramework on an internal cloud. The app will be to manage access and conform to an industrial standard and documented specification.

This role will expect a minimum of 3 days in-office at either our London or Bournemouth site.

As a Senior Python Django Developer you will help build a meaningful engineering discipline, combining software and systems to develop creative engineering solutions to operations problems. Much of our software development focuses on creating new applications, optimizing existing systems and reducing work through automation. You'll join a team of curious problem solvers with a diverse set of perspectives who are thinking big and taking risks.

Test Driven Development is at the forefront of what we do.

Responsibilities:

• Understand/apply reusable code design, leverage application architecture/framework capabilities and functionality, and design/develop solutions that are highly reliable, scalable, and perform to meet business-defined service levels.
• Work with Product owners to help shape the direction of the product based on a combined knowledge of what's technically feasible and what is desired by the end user.
• Conduct code reviews and ensuring quality solutions are built and tested.
• Employ Agile engineering practices; Pair Programming, Continuous Integration, Test Driven Development, etc.
• Identify and implement improvements to products.
• Contribute to the technical code and design documentation.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

• Strong Python - Django experience
• Experience in Cloud and Container based application development.
• Exposure to Micro service architecture, REST API design/development.
• Experience with build automation, test driven development, continuous integration and delivery.
• Experience of Web UI frameworks such as REACT or Angular is desirable but not essential.
• Experience with Kafka and event streaming is desirable but not essential.
• Expertise in software design using SOLID or GRASP is desirable but not essential.
• Knowledge of Datamodelling/schema design is desirable but not essential.
• Strong background in Relational Databases (Oracle or CockroachDB) & Knowledge of SQL is desirable but not essential.
