Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor 

Location: Derby (hybrid)

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + car allowance (£5,200)

The Situation: The Civils & Infrastructure division at Ford & Stanley are proud to be collaborating with the UK's largest provider of civil engineering inspections, in their search for a Senior Quantity Surveyor. Due to unprecedented growth, the company are on an impressive trajectory and as such need to increase commercial resource throughout the business.

About the Company: They are the largest provider of civil infrastructure inspections in the UK. They pride themselves on supporting the end-to-end management of a range of civil engineering assets, helping asset owners and managers keep critical infrastructure safe, reduce risk and maintenance costs as well as extend asset life. Specialising in difficult access, their teams have extensive experience inspecting structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, tunnels, and shafts across industry sectors such as Rail, Highways, Marine, Utilities and Defence. They are currently engaged in the delivery of numerous projects throughout the UK for and on behalf of many asset owners, managers and a large diversity of engineering consultancies including Network Rail, National Highways, Balfour Beatty, Kier and Atkins to name just a few. They offer cost-effective access solutions to their clients, always seeking to improve processes to maintain the highest degree of safety and efficiency. They can access most structures using ropes, diving or confined spaces techniques and also remotely operated aerial vehicles. Having also recently been acquired by a £multi-hundred-million turnover group, they are able to offer their customers even more critical asset and risk management services.

The Opportunity: As an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor joining this exciting business, you will be reporting directly into the Head of Contract Management and will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial management function for a multitude of framework agreements across the rail, civil engineering, marine and MoD industries such as; Network Rail Structure Examination Contracts for Western, Southern, Eastern and North West & Central, the National Highways Structure Inspection Contracts for the South West TST and the East HRE Contracts, and other major contracts. As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will ensure that all commercial and operational cost control processes are followed at all times, exhibit strong commercial management behaviours, accurately record revenue, and cost against contracts and ensure all billings are completed on time and are correct. With regards to development, the company have ambitious (but achievable) growth plans in which your contribution will be greatly rewarded. Likewise, you will also be presented with the opportunity to progress through the ranks and diversify your skillset.

The ideal Candidate:

Essential: Experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor ready to step up

Essential: Experience managing contracts over £10m in commercial responsibility

Essential: NEC and NR contract experience

Essential: Full UK drivers' licence with own vehicle

Essential: Development and implementation of contract management processes

Essential: Contract negotiation at both pre and post contract award

Desirable: Degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management

Desirable: Associate or Chartered Member of RICS or CICES
