The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a pivotal role in managing the cost aspects of multiple projects, ensuring financial control, and maximizing value for our clients.
Key Duties:
- Oversee all aspects of cost management throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring efficiency and adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Provide expert cost advice during the design phase, collaborating closely with design teams and client representatives to optimise project cost efficiency.
- Serve as a central point of contact for contract management, key account management, and commercial matters, fostering seamless coordination and communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Develop precise cost estimates, comprehensive budgets, and meticulous tender documents to support project planning and execution.
- Conduct thorough cost analyses, risk assessments, and evaluations of supplier and subcontractor quotations, promoting competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
- Implement robust cost control measures to optimise project expenditures while upholding quality standards and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Manage subcontract accounts, including preparation and placement of subcontract orders, to establish legally binding contracts and ensure compliance.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely financial reports, including cost forecasts, cash flow projections, valuations, and final accounts.
- Negotiate and agree on variations, claims, and final accounts with clients and subcontractors, leveraging negotiation skills to achieve equitable resolutions.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders, nurturing collaborative partnerships and promoting project success.
- Coordinate internal and external meetings, site visits, and correspondence related to contractual and commercial matters, ensuring effective communication and documentation.
- Supervise and support staff, including Quantity Surveyors (QS) and Trainee surveyors, to maintain a productive work environment and achieve project objectives.
- Conduct surveys, price projects, and perform any additional duties as required to successfully fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
Requirements:
· Minimum Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying
· Thorough understanding of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost management principles.
· Strong analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
· Proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making, with the ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
· Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and support junior members of the team.
