Our client is a leading Main Contractor with a strong presence in the North East region. With an impressive portfolio of commercial schemes spanning various sectors including care, education, and industrial, they are looking to bring in an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team and push their continued success further forward.
Position Overview: As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, this person will be responsible for managing all aspects of the commercial and financial aspects of the projects. Working closely with project teams, subcontractors, and clients, they will ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manage the full commercial lifecycle of projects from inception to completion, including cost estimation, tendering, procurement, and final account settlement.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely valuations, variations, and cost reports to clients and senior management.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and implement effective risk management strategies to mitigate potential financial and contractual issues.
- Negotiate and finalise subcontract agreements, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Collaborate closely with project teams to monitor project progress, identify cost-saving opportunities, and resolve any commercial disputes or discrepancies.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the commercial team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project delivery and enhance business opportunities.
- Stay ontop of industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and drive innovation within the organisation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- MRICS or similar professional accreditation preferred.
- Experience in a Quantity Surveying role within the construction industry, with a proven track record of successfully managing commercial aspects of projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools such as MS Excel, CostX, and industry-specific ERP systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
