Job description

The Department of Psychiatry is looking for a committed and enthusiastic Senior Research Associate to join the team to start on 1 April 2024. The successful applicant will work with Tamsin Ford to support the UK Mental Health Mission (MHM) project Children and Young People's Work Package and support the wider work of ChARM team according to the needs of current projects and the interests of the post-holder. The Child and Adolescent Mental Health team has expanded rapidly with an emphasis on applied epidemiology, as well as intervention development and evaluation. The successful applicant will be expected to play an active part in the development of this research programme. We are particularly interested in someone with experience of applied research and practical work with children, young people or in schools. The methods applied by the team include secondary analysis of large epidemiological datasets, mixed qualitative and quantitative observational studies, economic evaluation systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials. The research is inherently translational and multi-disciplinary, and involves strong links with psychology, paediatrics, education, epidemiology, trial specialists, statisticians, health economics and basic scientists. Though we are looking for an applicant at a junior level, one who has only recently completed their PhD, we envisage that they will eventually become involved in all aspects of this work. Applicants will have a PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience or Medical Sciences or equivalent, at least 8 year postdoctoral research experience and a strong track record in publication and successful grant applications. The post will be appointed initially at the appropriate point on the University of Cambridge's Senior Research Associate salary scale. Informal enquiries may be directed to Kerry Jones kj390@medschl.cam.ac.uk Applicants should submit a CV, covering letter outlining suitability for the role and contact details for two references.  To apply online for this vacancy, please click on the 'Apply' button above. This will route you to the University's Web Recruitment System, where you will need to register an account (if you have not already) and log in before completing the online application form. Deadline for applications is the 4th February 2024, with the interview date to be confirmed. Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check (enhanced with children's barred list). This appointment also requires a Research Passport application. To apply online for this vacancy and to view further information about the role, please click the 'Apply' button above. Please ensure that you upload a covering letter and CV in the Upload section of the online application. The covering letter should outline how you match the criteria for the post and why you are applying for this role. If you upload any additional documents which have not been requested, we will not be able to consider these as part of your application. Please include details of your referees, including email address and phone number, one of which must be your most recent line manager.
