About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Senior Safeguarding Lead reporting directly to the Director of Safeguarding and Student Services (DS&SS). The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality safeguarding services across the college. This is a cross campus role, requiring travel between sites. However, base campus can be negotiated.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
* Assist the DS&SS in overseeing the delivery of Safeguarding (Child Protection & Adults at Risk) and the Prevent Duty.
* Effectively lead and manage the Campus Safeguarding Leads (CSLs) and the Student Mentor for Looked After Children.
Professional Advice and Support:
* Offer professional advice and support on safeguarding matters to both staff and students.
* Liaise and meet with external bodies to ensure effective collaboration.
* Deliver training to staff and students on safeguarding matters.
Specialised Safeguarding Support:
* Provide specific safeguarding support for Higher Education and Apprenticeship students.
Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Management:
* Assist the DS&SS in cross-college management of equality, diversity, and inclusion aspects.
* Develop and implement policies to ensure compliance with equality legislation.
* Ensure that all students can develop their understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Training and Awareness:
* Ensure all staff receive relevant child protection training and are aware of college safeguarding procedures.
Collaboration and Support:
* Work collaboratively with internal staff, external agencies, and professionals to ensure students receive appropriate support and interventions.
* Attend meetings and carry out actions as required.
About You
Successful candidates should:
* Hold a safeguarding qualification at L3 or a minimum of L2 with a willingness to work towards L3.
* Provide evidence of a depth of understanding and continuous professional development related to safeguarding.
* Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of Government policy and initiatives on learning and skills.
* Have experience in effective staff and performance management, including setting targets, monitoring, and appraisals.
