Location - Hybrid - Based in Bottesford, NottinghamshireNG13 0GY
General hours of work are 40 hours per week Monday to Friday between 8.30am to 5pm.
This position is suitable for an experienced Software Engineer with a proven background in developing new solutions and transforming legacy platforms.

About the role of Senior Software Engineer
HRS is the leading European provider of smart technology for temporary traffic management worksites. By designing, manufacturing and operating our new digital products, we are changing how Connected and Autonomous vehicles will interact with the roadworks of the future. Our technology platform uses the latest 4G/IoT communications, high precision GNSS, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Cloud services.
Therefore, as a Senior Software Engineer you will work on a range of innovative IoT applications around smart connected products. You will be working with an experienced engineering team to develop new products and solutions from the conceptual design stage, right up to customer field trials, release and ongoing maintenance.
This is a hands-on role, where you will be expected to design, implement and test new solutions, along with upgrades to existing products.
What good looks like for a Senior Software Engineer
Essential:
- Software Development experience, preferably in an IoT environment.
- Knowledge of key engineering design tools and relevant Technology Stacks.
- Agile development experience (ideally experience of Jira and Confluence)
- Azure DevOps - including Agile tool and Continuous build, Azure Event Hub, Azure Key Vault
- Experience in OO development (preferably Java)
- JavaScript
- Git or GitHub source control
- GSON JSON Library
- MySQL Driver for Database Access
- An organised mindset, paying suitable attention to documentation and process.
- Ability to create effective and efficient code, implementing best design and debug practices.
- Experience of the full development lifecycle, from initial feasibility and concept design to validation, certification and ongoing support.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable.
- Experience developing high reliability or safety critical.
- Infrastructure architecture experience setting up and running Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
