Senior Strategy Advisor
Salary: GBP43,116
Hours: Full Time / Part Time (Min 0.8 FTE)
Contract Type: Open Ended
Location: Swindon, Polaris House or London, Caxton House. (Very flexible hybrid working options available, only required in the office approximately twice a month)

Job Overview

The purpose of this role is to support UKRI's ambitions for global mobility by supporting and leading programmes, strategy and policy development across UKRI and engaging across a range of internal UKRI and external stakeholders. The role will help build the evidence base to understand the impacts and trends of Global Mobility, including through UKRI's own processes and explore how we innovate our activity to ensure our processes and activities align in supporting UKRI's vision and the development of a positive UK R&I culture.

Responsibilities

  • Developing options and advice, sometimes to rapid timescales, that will inform key decision making and support the development of policy.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across UKRI, Government and the R&I sector to ensure a joined-up and effective approach to Global Mobility
  • Secretariat support for key initiatives including the Global Talent visa External Advisory Board, including the strategic development of their work and leading on key outputs.
  • Programme Management of the UKRI Temporary Worker (Government Authorised Exchange) scheme.

About you

  • Balance competing priorities and work to deadlines in a fast-paced policy environment, responding positively and often independently to shifting priorities
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Building strong collaborative relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to address broad strategic questions based on evidence, and support the development of policy options creatively
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, providing high-quality written and verbal advice to CEO level
  • Experience working independently and leading on specific pieces of work
  • Experience delivering and influencing through others, including through engagement with senior staff internally and externally
