Senior Streetworks Inspector

We have an exciting opportunity where you’ll manage and carry out the sample and compliance inspections regime ensuring that Luton Borough Councils fulfils its statutory obligations imposed by the various Codes of Practices and protecting the council’s investment/assets/highway infrastructure.
You’ll supervise a number of Street Works Inspectors activities and undertake inspections requiring application of the permitting regime, New Road and Street Works Act 1991 and East of England Permit Scheme procedures. Supervise the day to day activities undertaken by the Streetworks Inspector.
In this role you will be issuing Section 50 licences under the Highways Act, liaising with utility companies and be a point of escalations for inspections etc that have been put through by inspectors.
You will monitor and enforce compliance with regulations and guidelines for scaffolding on the highway, ensuring that inspections are conducted regularly and that all structures meet safety standards.
You will participate in meetings with the network manager and representatives from utility companies to discuss and address any issues related to poor performance, ensuring effective collaboration and problem-solving.
To be successful in this role you must experience in a customer focused / public service environment.
You must have the ability to collate, interpret and analyse complex information and data and to present that data in reports and presentations.
It’s impotant that you are able to organise your own work and others to meet conflicting work demands, targets and deadlines.
It’s vital that you have in depth knowledge of the New Road and Street Works Act, the Traffic Management Act 2004, Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions, CDM Regulations and Health and Safety Legislation.
You must have a NRSWA accreditation.
