Senior Structural Engineer

Our client, a reputable engineering consultancy is seeking to recruit a Senior Structural Engineer to join their office in Leicester. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality structural designs that range from multi-storey structures to small housing schemes undertaken to BIM level 2 and range in construction value from £250,000 to £30M. The role will involve the design of structures using the common construction materials of steel, timber, masonry and reinforced concrete. A sound knowledge of geotechnical engineering will also be required.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

- Responsible for all stages of project evolution from feasibility and concept to detailed design work, planning support, through to project construction and commissioning.
- Involved in multi-disciplinary projects that requires liaising with Engineers internally and external Clients/Stakeholders to provide cost-effect infrastructure solutions.
- Prepare technical details for Architectural design and prepare technical specifications.
- Responsible for leading and/or undertaking analysis, design and checking of engineering design works in reinforced concrete and structural steelwork, using appropriate design and analysis software.
- Offer a consultative advisory approach to clients to ensure the best solution is offered to meet their needs.
- Assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects.
- Responsible for ensuring the project complies with statutory requirements, especially health and safety.
- Undertake site and client office visits, as per project requirements.

Skills & Experience Required:

- Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Chartered or near Chartered status (MICE or IStructE).
- Design experience in all common building materials.
- An ability to take a global view of structural design on a project, identifying potential problems and solutions and providing advice to clients on design options.
- Experience in the use of Eurocodes.
- Proficiency in industry related software such as AutoCAD, TEDDS and preferably TEKLA.
