Essential Requirements:
- Proficient in current design and drawing practices
- Strong IT skills, including a current working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
- Full driving license
- Exceptional command of the English language
- Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written
- Physical fitness for tasks like climbing ladders, entering loft spaces, and handling activities at heights
- Legible hand calculations
- Experience in Contract Administration
- Thorough knowledge of British Standards and Building Regulations
- Chartered or near Chartered status
- Robust degree in a relevant subject
- Ability to professionally engage with clients, suppliers, and contractors with minimal supervision
Desirable Skills:
- Proficiency in Revit
- Previous experience as a Party Wall Surveyor
Responsibilities:
- Conducting comprehensive site visits, preparing reports, and recommending remedial actions
- Generating structural calculations, details, and drawings in adherence to current British Standards and Building Regulations
- Providing guidance on Building Regulations applications and tender documentation
- Developing design solutions in steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
- Offering on-site supervision
- Reviewing calculations for accuracy
- Collaborating with building control inspectors, clients, contractors, suppliers, and consultants
- Creating detailed working drawings and comprehensive project documentation
- Supervising and mentoring graduate engineers, assisting them in achieving Chartered status
- Assisting the Managing Director in the day-to-day management of the business
