Job description

We are recruiting a Senior Study Coordinator who has strong organisational skills and experience in research studies and/or clinical trials.  You will need good understanding of research methodology as well as excellent communication skills across a variety of disciplines to succeed in this role.

Our mission is to facilitate human health research and its transformation into medical practice.

NIHR BioResource is a unique and powerful resource for studying disease mechanisms and for investigating the links between genes, the environment, health and disease, enabling scientific discoveries as well as facilitating translational medicine for the benefit of patients.

Further details on the NIHR BioResource, including some of our COVID-19 research studies, can be found on our website https://bioresource.nihr.ac.uk.

The role is part of the Recruitment (Stage 1) Team and is responsible for facilitating the timely recruitment of volunteers. This will involve day-to-day coordination & administration, database management and contact with patients and recruitment sites following ethics guidelines and appropriate protocol. The role will include line management of the central administrative team who focus on Common Diseases.

As Senior Study coordinator you will coordinate the administrative running, monitoring, and archival of research studies specifically focused on Common Diseases, and may also assist with other recruitment as necessary. The role will be responsible for ensuring adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in all research activity whilst working closely with the Research Volunteer Recruitment Manager, Principal Investigator, and recruiting NHS Trusts. You will oversee data entry of participant research data and will liaise with external and internal teams to resolve any data quality issues.

NIHR BioResource sends out sample packs to numerous locations across the UK to enable the collection of bio-samples (such as blood or saliva) from our volunteers. You will line manage staff responsible for aspects of stock management for sample packs, and you work with our Samples team to monitor that participants' samples are received and processed by NIHR BioResource or third-party laboratories, troubleshooting when necessary.

This appointment is full-time, 37 hours per week; part-time to 80% will be considered. Work ¿ life balance is important, and we are open to discussion on flexible working, including hybrid working.

The post is available on a fixed-term basis until 30 November 2024 in the first instance. NIHR BioResource is funded by the National Institute for Health & Care Research (NIHR) on a 5-year funding cycle. It was announced last year that NIHR BioResource will receive new funding over the next 5 years.

We welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working or other flexible working arrangements.
