Senior Support Engineer - Kent - Onsite - GBP50,000 + Excellent benefits & career progression
Overview:
An excellent opportunity has arisen with a leading Managed Service Provider in Kent for a Senior Support Engineer. You will leverage the power and performance of the best technology in the market, combined with the network of Tier-3 data centres, giving the companies clients access to advanced, robust, and resilient platforms.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain our Nutanix and Fortinet infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues
- Manage and monitor infrastructure performance and alerts
- Proactively identify and mitigate infrastructure risks
- Document infrastructure procedures and processes
- Be a technical lead for project work and client migrations
- Stay up-to-date on the latest technologies
- Participation into the 24/7 On-Call rota
- Act as an escalation point for the 1st Line Engineers, taking ownership of the problem and providing troubleshooting assistance and Root Cause Analysis where needed
- Monitoring of firmware and software versions and management of updates in accordance with client maintenance windows
Essential Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining Hyper-converged infrastructures or equivalent
- Strong understanding of Nutanix and Fortinet technologies
- Experience in data centres, server hosting, IP networking, security, storage & backup solutions
- Experience with cloud computing technologies such as AWS or Azure
- Experience using MDM solutions such as Microsoft Endpoint Manager
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills

Pre-Sales Side:
- When required to do so, work with the sales team on specific opportunities (including those generated through channel partners) to provide technical presence during commercial meetings
- Work with the sales team to define and design the most suitable solution for each opportunity and when necessary, research alternatives or complimentary services to fill any shortfalls in our own offering
- Work with the Head of Sales to deliver product training and updates on features and benefits to the sales team
- Assist in updating and maintaining effective commercial documentation and diagrams for use in proposals, tender templates and marketing collateral
- Maintain an up to date and efficient demo environment for client meetings and presentations
- Work pro-actively with Managing Director and Sales Team to help progress existing opportunities and identify new ones within untapped markets or the existing customer base
- Work with the Head of Sales and Infrastructure Manager to define and implement efficient handover of new contracts from sales to technical team, allowing flow of all details and special conditions
- Develop and implement a more efficient audit process and documentation and provide training to both sales and technical team on what it covers and when it s to be used
