This opportunity at a well-established telecommunications and broadband company, specialising to Military, Government, Transport, and Utility markets across the UK, presents a chance for you to join a robust team with diverse specialisations.
Following significant investment, my client seeks a motivated Senior Technical Engineer to contribute to the team's strength, to enhance an already strong and competent team with varying specialisms.
The successful candidate must have a wide understanding of telecom technologies such as PDH, SDH, ethernet/IP, MPLS, GPON, DWDM, Cellular and Wireless networks, LTE-based networking equipment. Also exposure to a variety of SNMP network system running Linux, Solaris and Window servers. A specialist knowledge in both PDH or SDH networks is a must. Furthermore, the ideal candidate should be qualified to HNC level or above in the telecommunications field.
As my client provides 24/7 support to it's customers, an ability to participate in a "week on - 3 weeks off" out of hours rota is essential. This will take the form of phone and email support and the occasional site visit if and when require.
Along with sound telecom knowledge, the Ideal candidates will be positive, hard-working individual, committed to learning and staying abreast of evolving communication technologies. For those at the upper end of the salary range, a history of personnel or project management experience is essential.
Key Technical Skills
- Specialist knowledge in IP and Cellular.
- Familiar with a range of test equipment such as optical power meters & light sources, BERT's, cellular
- Comfortable engaging with both customers and suppliers on technical and project related.
- Able to conduct testing and produce full comprehensive test documentation / reports.
- Experienced in fault finding methodology.
- The ability to manage fault tickets process from beginning to end.
- Ability to administer and run small turn key projects.
- Ability to work under pressure and to time lines.
- Experience with remote management platforms
- Experience with working with Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel & Power point.
