You'll be a Senior Technical Lead.

• Setting a technical direction for a team of high-performing developers/technicians to develop APIs, working along side them to support and guide the development.
• Providing technical input into the feasibility and design stages of requirements definition.
• Developing technical product roadmaps and managing product lifecycles ensuring full alignment with DWP Strategy.
• Undertaking design & review, both functionally and architecturally, of the processes we use to deliver, outlining, proposing and implementing changes you feel might improve the overall process.
• Leading and supporting solutions through governance processes, e.g. Design Authority.
• Supporting and providing expertise to (potential) consumers of our service, including Transformation Projects, Other Government Departments.
• Supporting the team's development and capability growth, championing knowledge sharing, training and personal development.
• Bridge the gap between different teams, acting as a conduit for clear, concise communication between stakeholder & consumers and highly technical teams.

Your essential skills and experience:

• A demonstratable depth of experience leading the development of RESTful APIs using Java, integrated with Oracle Tuxedo.
• A wealth of experience leading high performing teams to success and developing strategy across an expansive organisation.
• Knowledge and experience of COBOL/Micro Focus COBOL.
• Knowledge of cloud-based environments such as AWS.
• Experience of building and managing automated Continuous Integration pipelines.

You'll be based in your choice of one of our brilliant digital hubs in Manchester, Blackpool, Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.

We also have all the tools and tech to work flexibly. We operate a hybrid working model. You can expect to work from home 60% of the time.

We offer competitive pay of up to £77,740 per annum.

You'll be eligible for a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions of 27.9%, worth up to £21,689 a year.

You'll get a generous leave package starting at 26 days, rising to 31 over time.

Plus all the usual bank holidays, and the option to take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi leave.
