Navigating the position:Senior Technical Writer

Your Voyage Ahead:

  • Collaboration & Research: Work hand-in-hand with software engineers, product managers, and other key stakeholders to deeply understand our product's functionality, features, and technical specifications.
  • Documentation Creation & Maintenance: Take charge of planning, writing, and periodically updating an array of technical documents. This includes but is not limited to user guides, API documentation, installation guides, release notes, and detailed technical specifications.
  • Documentation Management: Efficiently organise and maintain our documentation repositories, ensuring all information is accurate, up-to-date, and readily accessible to both internal teams and our valued customers.
  • Standards & Best Practices: Establish and uphold documentation standards, templates, and best practices, driving consistency and quality across all technical documentation efforts.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews and audits of existing documentation to pinpoint and act on improvement opportunities, ensuring all content remains accurate and relevant.
  • Technical Verification: Collaborate with subject matter experts to validate the technical accuracy and completeness of all documentation.
  • Educational Material Development: Partner with our training team to craft compelling instructional materials and resources that empower our end users.
  • Industry Awareness: Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in technical writing and documentation within the software industry.

Recommended to bring on board:

  • Educational Foundation: A degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field, setting a solid foundation for understanding both the technical and linguistic aspects of the role.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably within an enterprise SaaS software environment. A strong portfolio of documentation samples to showcase your previous work and impact.
  • Technical Tools Proficiency: Expertise in using a variety of documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, and MS Office. Familiarity with these tools will enable you to produce high-quality documentation efficiently.
  • Coding Knowledge: Proficiency in XML, HTML, and CSS for authoring and formatting content, enabling you to handle a wide range of documentation needs.
  • Software Development Processes: A strong understanding of software development processes, including Agile methodologies and version control systems like Confluence, Git, and Jira. This knowledge is crucial for accurately documenting software products and collaborating effectively with development teams.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an innate ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and understandable documentation for various audiences.
  • Attention to Detail: A detail-oriented approach with strong organizational and project management skills, ensuring that all documentation is accurate, consistent, and meets high-quality standards.
