Profil du candidat
  • Honours degree in electronic, electrical or communication engineering
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent
  • Experience (postgraduate) in voice and data communications
  • Project management skills involved in co-ordinating a number of simultaneous projects
  • In depth knowledge of PBX’s (IP) and main communication systems such as Radio, Terrestrial, Satellite and Optical fibre
  • In-depth knowledge of various communication protocols such as TCP/IP, MPLS, VPN’s, IPSec, QoS, TDM and Wireless Technologies
  • Knowledge of the upstream oil and gas industry and an understanding of its working practices relating to telecommunications

Activités
  • Ensuring all existing onshore and offshore communication systems are fit for purpose and working as designed
  • Planning, designing, and managing the introduction of new facilities and changes to existing facilities within budget and timescale criteria defined by department management
  • Ensuring vendors implement work regarding modifications and installation of new equipment within budget and timescales
  • Negotiating with and management of vendors with the assistance of purchasing and contracts departments as appropriate to ensure quality of and cost-effective supply of communication equipment and services
  • Prioritising between a number of diverse projects at different stages and operational tasks whilst ensuring that safety is given the highest priority
  • Ensuring that all equipment is fitted and maintained to the standards necessary for the safety of all personnel included offshore equipment

Reporting to the IT Operations Leader, the jobholder plans and provides telecommunications infrastructure facilities to meet user requirements, corporate strategy, and directives from IT management. As well as supervises TGS and vendors in the accomplishment of the above objectives and provides third level telecommunication support. The Senior Telecoms Engineer has a major influence in planning and provision of integrated onshore, offshore, onshore to offshore and inter-site voice communication facilities to support all aspects of the Company’s business. They will be expected to act as Telecoms Lead as and when appropriately delegated. Along with this, they will provide support of Telecom Infrastructure across all TEP UK locations both onshore and offshore.
