Senior Town Planner

Waldon Telecom, a part of M Group Services Telecoms Division, is an essential infrastructure services provider to the mobile telecommunication sector in the UK. We work on behalf of large mobile network operators to acquire, design, and construct mobile telecommunication base stations across the country.

Due to continued investment and forecast growth, we are looking for aSenior Town Plannerto joinour Town and Country Planning team.
What will you be doing?
As the Senior Town Planner, you will be a part of a dedicated team, working to assist in all stages of the planning process from site selection to completion.

You will be responsible for assisting the wider team in achieving the balance between the needs of the customer and those of the local authorities and communities.You will also play a vital role in ensuring that quality standards are met and exceeded along with developing strong client relationships.

You are likely to work 3 days at home and 2 days going into the West Byfleet, Surrey, Diseworth, Derby OR Central Glasgowoffice.

What will your key responsibilities be?

• Working closely withacquisitionspecialists, designers and Town Planners to assist the selection and progression of the optimal siting and design options to meet the client's needs.
• Undertaking research and site appraisals to identify planning issues andopportunities.
• Development of creative and original planning solutions to satisfy both clients and local authorities.
• Reporting to and liaising directly with clients.
• Responsible for overseeing delivery of high-quality written planning applications and appeal submissions.
• Compiling written assessments of refused planning applications and making recommendations to client on the potential viability of appealing refusals versus pursuing alternative site options or designs.
• Provision of ad hoc town planning advice to clients and colleaguesas required.
• Keeping up to date with planning legislation relevant to the fields in which the company is focussed.
• Attaining up to date knowledge of client specific proceduresand requirements and providing procedural advice and support to colleagues.
• Creating and developing strong, effectiverelationships with clients.

What skills, qualifications and experience are we looking for?

• UK Driving Licence.
• Willingness to travel.
• RTPI accredited or planning related degree (Planning, Urban Design and Landscape, Transport Planning, Environmental specialisms).
• Experience in mobile telecommunications field.
• Strong knowledge of general planning procedures and specific industry standards.
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet key deadlines in a pressurised, target driven environment, whilst maintaining a customer focused ethos.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to build positive relationships across a range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Has the proven ability to workeffectively both independently and in a team-based environment.
• Energetic and self-motivated.
