Role Overview: 

This senior role requires close collaboration with other parts of the Consultancy Services team and the wider business. As a Senior Traffic Signal Engineer, you’ll provide technical traffic engineering expertise across various disciplines. Your responsibilities will include working on complex traffic engineering projects independently and managing them through to customer approval. Additionally, you’ll engage in one-on-one liaison with our customer base on a daily basis. Experience with SCOOT is important as this role will include working on our brand new adaptive control system FUSION, which is being rolled out accross the UK and abroad.

 

Responsibilities & Opportunities:

  • Lead the way in delivering top-notch traffic engineering projects across the UK, aligning with national/local standards, guidance, and best practices.
  • Drive projects using ergonomic, economic, and sustainable principles for lasting impact.
  • Champion risk assessment and mitigation for seamless project execution.
  • Conduct site visits, validations, and client interactions.
  • Write technical reports and specifications that drive innovation.
  • Craft winning consultancy/design quotations.
  • Lead project management and track financials, steering projects towards success.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Elevate projects through exceptional verbal and written communication, fostering a collaborative spirit.
  • Thrive on cracking complex traffic engineering challenges while exceeding customer expectations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Traffic Signal design fundamentals and UK standards.
  • Proficiency in traffic engineering software (AutoCAD, KeySignals) and modeling tools (LinSig, Transyt).
  • Extensive knowledge of diverse Traffic Signal products and industry trends.
  • Substantive knowledge and experience using systems like UTC, UTMC, and adaptive control strategies (SCOOT, MOVA).
  • Proven track record in setting up and validating adaptive control strategies on-site.
  • Experience in conducting Factory and Site Acceptance Testing.
