I am looking for a passionate and skilled Senior UI/UX Designer to help design and deliver industry-leading products for our Edinburgh based client.

The perfect match
The ideal candidate is experienced in designing technical web-based products, excels in user interface design, and can seamlessly integrate user research/testing with daily product commitments in a fast-paced start-up environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with product managers and engineers to define product requirements and ensure seamless design implementation.
  • Create and Iterate: Develop wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and design mock-ups. Iterate designs based on feedback to enhance the user experience.
  • Develop Design Systems: Build reusable UI components and design patterns in Figma, and curate UI guidelines for a comprehensive design system toolkit.
  • User-Centred Design: Introduce user-centred design processes, incorporating user research, usability testing, and data analysis within product constraints.
  • Stay Current: Keep up with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UX/UI design.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer, Product Designer, or similar role, with a strong portfolio.
  • Expertise in creating UI/Product design deliverables, including lo-fi and hi-fi layouts and prototypes.
  • Strong knowledge of UI & Interaction design principles, typography, layout, and visual design skills.
  • Expert in Figma, including Auto-layout, Component properties, and variables.
  • Proficient in user research methods, usability testing, and data-driven design.
  • Experienced in designing complex web-based applications and creating/maintaining design systems.
  • Ability to collaborate with front-end engineers for implementation and QA.
  • Personal Skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate and defend design decisions.
  • Experience working in start-ups or fast-paced environments with high degrees of change and uncertainty.
  • Ability to introduce design and research processes into technical businesses over time.
  • Autonomous problem-solving skills, managing and prioritising tasks to deliver the best outcomes.
  • Willingness to step outside the design comfort zone to help the business progress.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and iterative design processes.
  • A strong contributor to team culture and values, with a desire to make a significant impact.
