Senior UX Designer - 12 months - up to £650 per day - inside IR35 - Remote
Senior UX Designer for a government project for an initial 12 months to start ASAP.
About the role
- Working closely with other professional leads, Delivery Managers and Heads of Role to ensure current and future resourcing needs for interaction design within a portfolio of work are met, hiring new talent and allocating people as required.
- Working with the Head of Role to assure the quality of Interaction Design and defining, developing and embedding best practice and standards within a portfolio of work and across NLEDP Person.
- Identifying, developing and using best practice and standards to design service consistent.
- Supporting and mentoring other designers, allocating tasks and providing them with guidance, training and constructive feedback.
- Advocating for users and understanding user needs to design simple, effective and accessible services.
- Being an active leader in the cross-government Design community, sharing advice and best practice with heads of design in other departments.
- Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team on large, complex services by facilitating the design process, participating in research activities, workshops and communicating design decisions to the team and stakeholders.
Essential:
- An active SC Clearance.
- Hands on use of GOV.UK Prototype kit or associated technology knowledge/experience.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of user-centred design practices.
- Experience of working in Agile environments.
- The ability to clearly communicate with a range of audiences and stakeholders to advocate user- centred design and explain design decisions to senior management.
- Experience of coaching and mentoring team members, growing skills, and providing constructive feedback on work.
- The ability to understand the landscape of technology, and its impact on society and government in order to translate and define this in the context of the organisation.
- Be able to use your extensive knowledge of visual and interaction design to create usable, accessible and responsive user interfaces, interpreting evidence to inform decisions.
Desirable:
- Public Sector/Law Enforcement experience.
- GDS knowledge and experience.
