LSE is committed to building a diverse, equitable and truly inclusive university  Widening Participation – Academic Registrar’s Division  Senior Widening Participation Officer  Salary from £40,229 to £48,456 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £52,095 pa inclusive of London allowance  This post is permanent and could be worked as either a 0.8 or 1 FTE (4 or 5 days per week)  LSE is the world’s leading social sciences institution, established for the betterment of society. The School is committed to widening access to and participation in higher education and ‘developing LSE for everyone’ is a key objective of the new LSE 2030 strategy.  The Widening Participation team, based in the Academic Registrar’s Division, leads our efforts to widen access to LSE for UK Undergraduate students from under-represented groups and supports the attainment and progression to HE for hundreds of young people each year. The team leads on the delivery of key elements of the School’s outreach and access strategy, as set out in our Access and Participation Plan.  We are seeking a Senior Widening Participation Officer to lead the delivery and management of key pre-entry sustained LSE WP programmes LSE Springboard and LSE Thrive. The role-holder will also oversee activities designed to widen access to LSE and other selective institutions for students from under-represented groups, such as subject outreach delivered in collaboration with academic departments. For more information about the activity delivered by the Widening Participation team see www.lse.ac.uk/wideningparticipation  Reporting to the Deputy Head of Widening Participation (Programme Operations), the post-holder will: Contribute to the development and implementation of the School’s outreach and widening access priorities, as outlined in the LSE Access and Participation Plan and LSE 2030 strategy Develop, manage and evaluate a range of programmes for young people and to widen access to LSE and other selective HEIs Line manage up to three Widening Participation Co-ordinators and other staff involved in the delivery of projects and activities within the team  The successful candidate should have: Excellent knowledge of UK secondary and higher education and key issues in Widening Participation An ability to work effectively and build strong relationships with people at all levels including academics, current students, pupils, parents/carers and teachers. Experience of managing the delivery of complex projects for young people on time and to budget, especially when delivered in collaboration with internal and external partners Experience of coaching and managing staff and contributing to wider team management  This position will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
