About the role
Working with the Creative Review Editor and the wider editorial team, you will help devise the content strategy for the magazine both online and in print.
You will write features and new stories for Creative Review quarterly print magazine and website, and help develop ideas for CR’s various content series.
You will help develop and contribute to Creative Review’s events, podcast series, and Annual Awards and help to manage the CR advisory board.
You will be comfortable working closely with other teams within the business, and also acting as a brand ambassador for CR in wider settings, including attending industry events and building contacts.
Key responsibilities
Generating story ideas and writing selected stories across print, and online.
Seeking out and investigating stories via contacts, press releases and other media.
Assisting in production of magazine and online, including subbing and picture research.
Interviewing people in a range of different circumstances and contacting people in industry for publishable opinions/quotes.
Looking for press releases and announcements in addition to responding to tip-offs and calls.
Attending any conferences as appropriate.
Creating and uploading features and news content for the website.
Writing content for printed magazine.
Checking stories for accuracy of content (e.g. facts, figures, people) and any potential legal issues.
Ensuring articles are written in the house style.
Sourcing images and graphics for stories.
Assist Editor on wider CR projects including events, podcast, Annual Awards, and advisory board, if required.
Contribute to panel discussions, and Annual Awards judging
Build brand awareness for CR in wider industry
Skills and expertise
An experienced journalist or editor, ideally with knowledge of the advertising and design industriesExperience of working as part of an editorial team and regularly devising content plansContacts book within the commercial creative industries, ideally in the design and advertising industriesCuriosity and a desire to track down compelling storiesKnowledge of what makes an outstanding piece of contentProduction experience including use of programmes such as WordPress, Photoshop, and InDesignExperience of working in a busy environment with a track record of consistently meeting deadlines Versatile, being able to coordinate multiple tasks and deadlinesA collaborator able to work with a variety of people and teams both internally and externallyExceptional professionalism, and attention to detail are a must, with someone driven to develop strong relationships and actively seek out new opportunities to grow and develop our offering.
