My client is a rapidly growing law firm specialising in personal injury and clinical negligence law. They are based in the North-West of the UK, with offices in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds & Southport, although many of their colleagues work from home as the firm offers Hybrid working. This Legal 500, award-winning firm is expanding their Serious Injury team and is recruiting for someone to lead and develop the Serious Injury Unit (SIU) to meet the needs of their clients and deliver the firms' strategies and plans for Serious Injury. This role may also carry a reduced caseload.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Experience of successfully leading a Serious Injury Team
• Experience of running a wide variety of Serious Injury claims
• Ability to deliver excellent client service
• A good understanding of how to deliver and grow team productivity
• Experience of coaching and supporting other lawyers and managers
• Forming and maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to role model good practice leadership
• Technology literate, with the ability to use technology to enhance legal services
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to form positive working relationships with a wide variety of team members
• Strong analytical skills
Main Responsibilities for the role:
1. Strategy & Leadership
• Ensure that the team provides excellent client service
• Ensure that the team achieves their agreed performance targets by using consistent and clear leadership in the management of individuals KPI’s
• Ensure the progression of all cases in team up to the point of settlement
• Provide inspirational leadership to SIU including recruitment, motivation, training and supporting of team members as required
• Implement and monitor departmental plans to deliver Fletchers’ priorities including Project Arrow across SIU
• Support the budgeting process for SIU
2. Case Handling
• To run a reduced load of circa. 25% of a full capacity numbers varying in value and technicality Liaising with clients, experts, barristers, third party solicitors and insurers as necessary.
• Dealing with all aspects of pre and post issue procedures in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Pursuing cases to conclusion.
• Ensuring all actions as per Proclaim Action List are completed in a timely fashion.
• Accurate time recording.
• Maintaining client files in good order in accordance with Lexcel and other quality assurance requirements.
• Delegate and supervise tasks to junior team members where appropriate
