Job description

We are currently recruiting for our client based in Dudley who are a Global leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance plastic and rubber extrusion lines.

Providing exceptional value to customers our client serves a wide range of industries including packaging, construction, healthcare, agriculture, automotive, electronics, and energy. Additionally, the company offers a full range of extrusion after-market services and rebuilds/reconditions older machines for resale.

The UK business unit is a growing, profitable, and tight-knit operation with an excellent team ethic and confirmed strong sales for 2024.

THE ROLE:

The Service Centre Technician will assist the current Service Centre Manager lead the company's Service Centre operations, focusing on customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and revenue growth with a view to progression into a managerial role over a one-to-two-year period. Additionally, the role involves assisting the current in-house controls expert in supporting the growth of the business and establishing new areas of expertise within the customer base.

  • Assist in the daily operations of the Service Centre, ensuring high standards of customer service and operational efficiency.
  • Develop awareness of both historic and current control systems in an effort to support for the full range of the business.
  • Assist the current in-house controls expert with electrical and control issues.
  • Support projects with customers, troubleshooting existing issues and providing solutions.
  • Assist in specification of PLCs, software, and related technology for out-of-date equipment.
  • Assist in transition from analogue to digital technology.
  • Assist in development of new control solutions for extrusion machines.
  • Modify standard control panels to suit customer needs and upgrade/modify electrical systems on rebuilds.
  • Provide consultative technical advice and assist in solving equipment and processing problems for customers.
  • Assist in the generation, maintenance, and modification of relevant electrical CAD drawings for ongoing contracts and prospective orders.
  • Coordinate with sales and production teams to ensure timely and effective service delivery.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
  • Promote and manage after-market sales, including service contracts, parts, and upgrades.
  • Conduct service calls, sales calls, and commissioning visits, as necessary.
  • Keep up to date with current safety standards, working practices, and technological advancements applicable to the business sector.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE :

  • Strong experience in control systems, electrical engineering, and electrical wiring.
  • Have experience in working PLC’s.
  • Experience in varying manufacturing environments including Pipe and Profile, Blown Film, Cast Film Extrusion Coating or Foam Extrusion would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve technical issues and provide hands-on support.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in front of customers.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Will be able to travel UK & global as part of their role, and therefore must hold a full UK driving licence.
