Building and Campus: This is currently a hybrid working role with both work from home and on campus. The team are currently on the Strand campus at the Maughan Library. You will, however be expected to work regularly at other campus sites. Libraries & Collections comprises four departments: Education & Learning, Research & Impact, Service Design & Delivery, along with Business Operations. We are part of the Students & Education Directorate, which manages the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond. This role is based in the Service Design & Delivery department, which consists of the Systems, Space & Discovery and Frontline Services teams. The Department provides welcoming library environments, enabling users to get the most out of our spaces, services, and collections, as well as facilitating continual service improvement and development of new services across Libraries and Collections. About the Role We are looking for a passionate candidate who can drive service improvements across L&C through drawing on methodologies from continuous improvement, service design and user experience research, to help us create inclusive and high-quality services. The Service Development Manager leads and contributes to improvement projects. They take a consultative role supporting decision makers to improve or develop new services by generating new user experience research or feedback, and bringing together different sources of business data, inclusive practices, and colleague expertise. The successful candidate will work effectively with staff across different roles, facilitating positive discussion and generating enthusiasm for change while championing the user voice in decision making. This is an exciting opportunity to work across different areas within higher education libraries, increasing the breadth of your knowledge and having the opportunity to drive meaningful change. You will be supported to develop your skills in user experience research and service design. All Libraries & Collections staff are encouraged to take responsibility for their own performance and development, through agreeing clear objectives, maintaining professional awareness, participating in professional networks and reflecting on own performance. We expect all managers to role-model a positive, proactive, flexible and committed approach that inspires others. You will be required to participate in frontline services as required, including contributing towards a Manager on Duty rota for evening and weekend working. Contract type This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.
