Our new Council Plan is ambitious, whilst also recognising the challenges we face. Like all councils, we need to find new ways of tackling longstanding issues, and this is particularly relevant for our front line Adult Social Care and Housing services. We are determined to modernise these services and also engage more effectively with the people we support and our communities. Bringing together Adult Social Care and Housing will enable us to have a more joined up approach.
We are therefore seeking a new Service Director to lead these services in Herefordshire, with the ability to challenge traditional ways of working and to energise and galvanise staff and stakeholders. The role reports to the Corporate Director for Community Wellbeing and will be a key senior leader in the directorate which, in addition to these services, covers all age commissioning, public health, libraries, museums and culture. Responsible for over 120 staff, candidates will need to have a social work qualification, but more importantly the ability to forge strong partnerships, deliver change, and improve outcomes for our residents.
Herefordshire has a very strong sense of identity and we benefit from having many strong voluntary and community groups who care deeply about their fellow residents. Together with partners, we want to work more with this community offer to ensure that we can all, collectively, support people more effectively.
