An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Manager, Mental Health Social Care to join our Integrated Mental Health Service here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full-time, permanent basis.

Following a service review, Wokingham Borough Council (WBC) and Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BHFT) have restructured the delivery of our Integrated Mental Health Service.

The Role:

As the Service Manager, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of Social Care, ensuring WBC's compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures, and providing high-quality support to meet performance requirements.

Social care will introduce a dedicated Social Care pathway, while BHFT will provide health care under the One Team and care pathways model of care delivery. Although WBC staff will manage Social Care and BHFT will provide health care separately, the service will collaborate closely as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for service users.

WBC will continue to support individuals with complex Mental Health needs, however this is need based rather than via the diagnostic secondary care gateway. The people that we support will have a severe mental illness, and may not always be open to Mental Health services.

The new configuration will involve greater collaboration with WBC locality and commissioning services, as well as increased engagement with VCSO and Third sector organizations.

Candidate Requirements:

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Mental Health professional with managerial experience, who is excited to lead and shape the service in line with the new service model.

The ideal candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of Safeguarding, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, and Human Rights legislation and experience in working with adults with severe mental illness. Ideally, they should understand the requirement of the AMHP service, possess managerial experience, and/or have led improvement or change projects.

If the successful candidate is an AMHP there will be the opportunity to be approved by Wokingham and contribute to the AMHP rota and receive the AMHP allowance.

Benefits:

Wokingham Integrated Mental Health Service is committed to professional development and has excellent working relationships with health colleagues and colleagues in Adult Social Care. We offer competitive terms and conditions, including 30 days of annual leave per year, or 35 days for those with 5 years of local government service.
