Job description

About the role

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is at the heart of energy in the UK. The electricity we provide gets the nation to work, powers schools and brings energy to life. Our energy network connects the nation, so it’s essential that it’s continually evolving, advancing and improving.  In NGET we are passionate about both operating our network safely and providing highly reliable quality of supply for our customers.

As Scheduling Manager, you’ll be responsible for the efficient utilisation of resources and coordinating and managing power for the engineering services provided across the Network Development (ND) Team.  You’ll ensure they meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders.

You'll make sure that requirements are defined and met with appropriate resourcing strategies across the team and external contractors to deliver, and that opportunities are continuously identified to improve scheduling processes and tools.

Working closely with stakeholders to ensure that schedules are accurate and up to date, tracking progress and communicating updates, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring that ND operates efficiently and effectively, and that projects are completed successfully.

In addition, you’ll maintain the data and intelligence necessary to support network analysis and optimisation, developing and implementing scheduling policies and procedures.

You’ll establish and implement a contractor call off strategy and supporting framework to allow resource flexibility to manage power system resource peaks, regularly reviewing the balance between permanent staffing levels and outsourced support based on long-term demand forecasts.

This role is based out of our office in Warwick and can be combined with hybrid working from home.

What you'll need

With a background in project management, and experience in scheduling and coordinating resources, activities, and projects, you’ll have experience of project planning and resource management.

You’ll ideally have knowledge of the electricity transmission network, including the technical, commercial, and regulatory environment, coupled with experience in directing professional teams and co-ordinating engineering activities.

An expert in influencing stakeholders and stakeholder management, ensuring clear communication of technical engineering activities, you’ll have a comprehensive knowledge of the development of service provision.

What's in it for you?

  • A competitive salary of £55,000 - £62,000
  • Annual Performance Based Bonus of up to 15%
  • 28 days annual leave plus eight statutory days
  • Option to buy/sell holiday days
  • Generous contributory pension scheme – we’ll double-match your contribution to a max company contribution of 12%
  • Financial support for study relevant to your role
  • Flexible benefits: share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes
  • Family benefits like back-up care service (six paid days yearly + option to purchase more)
