Job description

Here at Merton College, we are looking to increase our Sessional Teacher / Assessor pool and invite skilled and experienced professionals to teach and assess adult learners across different levels on both accredited and non-accredited courses. We are recruiting in the following subject areas;
  • Green Skills/Environmental Sustainability (accredited - £38.09 - £45.97 per hour and non-accredited - £30.72 - £35.46 per hour)
  • Baking (accredited - £38.09 - £45.97 per hour)
You'll deliver varied and effective teaching and learning sessions, including using virtual delivery if required, in which all members of the group are respected and able to participate. You'll prepare course plans in accordance with any external or College set syllabuses and deliver the agreed learning outcomes by the end of the course. You'll prepare lesson plans showing content, activities, and timing, and prepare learning materials for each session as appropriate.
The role also requires you to formally assess and help learners to assess their own learning throughout the course and to help them evaluate their achievement and the quality of College services at the end of the course.
So, if you have successful teaching experience and/or a teaching qualification as well as strong knowledge of the subject to be taught, we'd be delighted to hear from you!
You'll be able to plan lessons and use a range of techniques appropriate to learners from diverse educational backgrounds, including adult learners. You'll be able to work under pressure and to strict deadlines and communicate effectively at all levels. You'll be committed to establishing and maintaining a good working relationship with colleagues and learners and be able to identify and implement improvements in existing systems, delivering virtual sessions if required.
Closing date for the return of completed applications is 2nd February 2024.
