Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding role?
Tailor-Made Programmes (TMP) and Out of School Tuition (OOST) are seeking to recruit sessional Learning Mentors/Teaching Assistants to work in all areas of Derbyshire with children and young people aged between 5 and 16.
We are seeking motivated individuals who have an interest in working with children who are not currently in mainstream education. Knowledge and experience of working with children who have SEND would be beneficial.
We work with children who are out of school for a variety of reasons including medical and SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health) needs as well as neuro-diverse disorders and learning difficulties. The role requires excellent communication skills, good organisation and the ability to engage and motivate children to learn, with the aim of reintegrating them back into school or into a new school placement. Most of the work is on a 1:1 basis and would take place in TMP Centres, other suitable venues or in the child’s home. Applications are welcomed from across the county, but demand is particularly high in Erewash, Derbyshire Dales, South Derbyshire and North East Derbyshire.
A mobile phone is essential, as is the ability to travel independently within a reasonable distance from your home. It is probable that you will also be required to transport children to venues outside the home. Core training is provided, and full support will be given by an Area Senior Tutor or a TMP Teacher and Co-ordinator.
Hours are flexible and vary depending on demand. This role does not provide any guaranteed hours of work.
We welcome applications from individuals with varied experience and a desire to make a difference to the lives of young people.
