Job description

Core Purpose:
The AEB Adult Skills Tutor/Assessor (Vocational) is dedicated to delivering effective teaching, learning, and assessment for adult learners with a specific focus on vocational subjects. This involves personalised learning, maintaining high expectations, and contributing to outstanding education quality. The role includes key duties such as initial assessments, providing feedback, and continuous improvement. The Aeb Adult Skills Tutor/Assessor (Vocational) also manages learner behaviours and oversees the learner journey to meet contractual requirements, staying adaptable to business needs. Compliance with company policies, particularly in the context of vocational subjects, is a central aspect of the role.
Key Responsibilities:

Main Duties:
To conduct effective initial assessment for referred learners, identifying accurate starting points, and designing appropriate Individual Learning Plans
To deliver accredited qualifications and wider learning in accordance with awarding body and Standguide policies and procedures
To use starting point information to personalise teaching and learning, ensuring that each session includes all learners and meets individual needs with support and challenge
To provide effective verbal and written feedback on learning so that learners make good progress and achieve qualification and wider learning objectives
To assess and monitor learner progress in line with company policies and procedures, intervening where necessary to ensure that all learners achieve their full potential
To prepare learners for summative assessment, including controlled assessment, external test and portfolio submission
To maintain rigour in qualification assessment, working within JCQ and awarding body regulations regarding handling of secure materials, administration of assessment and procedures for results and resits as required
To quality assure the assessment activity of colleagues, working under the direction of the LIQA
To make a full contribution to the continuous improvement of the quality of education throughout the provision, sharing good practice and contributing to the development of sow and resources
To attend meetings and undertake standardising and CPD activity as required
To manage own professional development, using feedback (including OTLA, IQA, learner voice and internal / external quality assurance and inspection) to deliver continuous improvement in teaching, learning and assessment
To engage with the performance management process, preparing for reviews, meeting deadlines and achieving KPIs to drive continuous improvement
To maintain up to date subject knowledge and industry expertise and meet changing needs of qualifications and curriculum
To manage learner behaviours including attendance and punctuality
To liaise with colleagues to ensure iag and employability needs of learners are met, maximising positive progression for learners
To manage the learner journey including administration so that contractual and funding requirements are consistently met
To work flexibly to meet business and contract needs, including delivery site and activity
To be conversant with and ensure full compliance with all relevant company policies and procedures.
