Organon is recruiting a Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) / Compliance Engineer to join our world class manufacturing site in Cramlington, Northumberland. In this role, you will work alongside the Capital Project Team and support the delivery of a broad portfolio of capital projects. Your primary role is to support the Project Team to ensure that SHE requirements are identified and executed during the project.

As SHE Adviser / Compliance Engineer, you will work on our capital projects to ensure that we design, construct, install and commission equipment that is compliant and safe to use. 

This role is integrated into the Capital Project Engineering Team and will also work alongside the local SHE Department as well as have the support of global SHE experts within Organon.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main SHE point of contact for each capital project.
  • Ensure that the SHE management of change system is adhered to during capital projects.
  • Support each project team to ensure compliance with UK regulations & corporate standards relating to SHE.
  • Participate in the lifecycle of a project from concept design to handover, including hazard identification assessments such as: PHA, HAZOP, machinery safety, ergonomic and operational risk assessments.
  • The role will also include facility and equipment inspections during the commissioning and qualification phase to ensure compliance with the design brief.
  • Support the Engineering Dept. to embed health, safety and environmental principles and good practices into the engineering policies and procedures for the site.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Science/Engineering and/or an EHS related certification such as NEBOSH Diploma - Occupational Health and Safety Management.
  • Strong technical and operational knowledge of Health and Safety in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in Pharma or highly regulated industry.
  • Experience supporting the delivery of capital projects from a SHE perspective.
  • Experience of identifying and managing risks associated with substances hazardous to health, combustible dusts, packaging and process equipment, utilities and construction projects.
  • A strong practitioner of risk assessment techniques for packaging and process equipment and DSEAR/ATEX.
  • Good communication skills, a problem solver able to recommend solutions, team leadership capabilities, the ability to influence and make decisions.
